The following are programs and ideas that are either useful or just plain interesting.

Mind-expanding information

Dr. David Donnini's research work - A very challenging and insightful work by a great man over in Italy.  It needed a good home, and I was compelled to clean it up some, and host it here.  Dr. Donnini was kind enough to give me his permission to do so.

Terry Alden's contribution to understanding ancient astronomy - Discusses 'New Age' points as our ancestors understood them about two thousand years ago, and their derivation from a sixty-year Jupiter/Saturn conjunction cycle.  There are a couple items Alden is wrong about, as you will see if you read Laughing at the Devil, but, overall, Terry's work is a good overview of the astronomy behind many myths.  (It is a bit difficult to follow, and he now charges for viewing it when the site is up.)

Ev Cochrane's work - Going in a different direction, Ev Cochrane posits an unprobable planetary alignment.  Disregarding that, he has done the best job of anyone I have ever seen of compiling, comparing, and showing the links between many ancient myths from a multitude of cultures around the world.  Well worth perusing.

Web Programming Tools

Alleycode HTML editor

Xara Xtreme - A powerful vector drawing program.

LeechFTP - Compact and powerful FTP program.

Mind-expanding programs

CyberSky - Astronomy program.

Starry Night - Another astronomy program.  Not as easy to use for research work as CyberSky, but has wonderful animations.  I think you just need the core, but I'm not sure, as they have changed the program since I purchased it.  (Or you can buy the $250 version, but I can't see a reason to, myself.)
