Have you ever wondered why Sunday contains the word 'Sun,' or how the days of the week became ordered as they are? Maybe you've questioned why Peter, Jesus' disciple, cut off the ear of the High Priest's servant with a sword, even though the cornerstone of Jesus' teaching is supposed to be love and peace? Laughing at the Devil: A Cult Survivor's Religious Discoveries contains answers to these, and many more questions.

I began this writing for myself, in order to come to grips with an indoctrination into a Catholic cult when I was six years old. At that time my mother took my sisters and me to a fundamentalist sect in Idaho without telling my father. He tracked us down a couple weeks later, and after a two-and-a-half month struggle, he got the police to get us back. Their marriage painfully collapsed over the following years because of religious differences, and the church's meddling.

When I matured enough to understand the forces that ripped my family apart, a compulsion prompted me to study our religious history more deeply. The scope of my lessons grew much larger one day in the library. Then, I was shaken to the core by a book which hinted at a strong connection between religion and science in the past. Following the trail, the celestial basis of many mythical and religious stories was uncovered.

LATD contains the results of this quest. Within its pages the astronomical foundation of Western civilization is shown, as is the mythological 'bridge' connecting religion to astronomy.

The most profound revelation in LATD is the celestial observations encoded into the biblical story of Samson by the early Hebraic priesthood. Some sources stated that this tale was originally about the planet Mars, and following those leads unearthed the heavenly activities our ancestors recorded in their yarn.

Just as many people believe a 'new age' is upon us, the priests creating the biblical Samson narrative chronicled a new age which occurred over 4,200 years ago. The ancient observations behind this story, and the astronomical thoughts of the authors, are clearly revealed in LATD, in straight-forward, easy-to-understand language. It is shown that the early observers didn't comprehend the universe as we do now, and also how their understanding grew as time progressed—ultimately becoming the real basis to today's scientific knowledge.

Science, politics, religion, and spirituality—join in reading a book which blends these topics in a new way, and shows the strong connections between them. Perhaps a few of your questions will be answered, and, like others, you will see the world in a profound new way.
