Have you ever wondered why Sunday has the word 'Sun' in it, or how the days of the week became ordered as they are? Maybe you've questioned why Peter, Jesus' disciple, cut off the ear of the High Priest's servant with a sword, even though the cornerstone of Jesus' teaching is supposed to be love and peace? Laughing at the Devil: A Cult Survivor's Religious Discoveries contains answers to these, and many more questions.
I began this writing for myself, in order to come to grips with my indoctrination into a Catholic cult when I was six years old. At that time my mother ran away with my sisters and me to a fundamentalist sect in Idaho. Dad eventually found us, but the religious differences between my parents, as well as the church's meddling, ended up destroying their marriage. My sisters and I were torn between my mother, my father, my maternal grandmother, and the cult.
After growing old enough to understand the forces that ripped my family apart, I was compelled to study how religion obtained the power to destroy relationships. Those efforts revealed that this was due to the deep ties between religion and politics in our history.
The scope of my lessons grew when I stumbled upon a book that shook me to the core. It hinted at a deep connection between religion and science in the distant past, and by persistently following that lead, the astronomical basis to many mythical and religious tales was uncovered.
LATD contains the results of this quest. Within its pages the astronomical foundation of Western religion is shown, as well as the mythological 'bridge' that connects religion to astronomy.
The most profound revelation in LATD is the celestial observations that the early Hebraic priesthood encoded into the biblical story of Samson. Some sources hinted that this tale was originally about the planet Mars, and following those leads unearthed what our ancestors were recording in their narrative.
Just as many people are convinced that a 'new age' is upon us, the priests who created the biblical Samson tale were recording a new age that occurred over 4,200 years ago. The observations and astronomical thinking of those times are clearly revealed in LATD, in straight-forward, easy-to-understand language. It is shown that those priests didn't comprehend the universe as we do now, and also how their comprehension grew as time progressed—ultimately becoming the real basis to today's scientific knowledge.
Science, politics, religion, and spirituality—join in reading a book that blends these topics in a new way, and shows the strong connections between them. Perhaps some of your questions will be answered, and you, too, will look at the world in a profound new way.
